World Language Teacher - Spanish

About This Role

Instruct students in World Language, specifically Spanish, skills such as culture appreciation, pronunciation, spelling/vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. This role supports the mission and goals of Lexington County School District One and involves fostering independent, creative, critical thinkers.

Responsibilities

• Support and uphold the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One
• Interact, communicate, and collaborate with all stakeholders effectively
• Establish a safe, supportive, positive, and productive working and learning environment
• Operate general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all employee and student information
• Participate in all professional meetings and training sessions as required
• Request and maintain materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions, ensuring safe storage and proper use
• Demonstrate a variety of 21st-century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers
• Design and facilitate engaging, high-level, sophisticated learning experiences appropriate for a global, knowledge-based society
• Teach concepts and skills in the three modes of world language learning: presentational, interpretive, and interpersonal
• Present new skills and situations using all available technology and authentic texts
• Follow district curriculum and guidelines
• Prepare various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily/weekly activity plans, and performance assessments
• Organize classroom areas for daily instruction
• Select, request, and maintain an inventory of instructional aides, software, technology tools, equipment, and supplies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in applicable world language or related discipline
• Previous student teaching experience
• Valid SC Teaching License
• Current government issued identification

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in applicable world language or related discipline with previous student teaching experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
