Chorus Teacher

About This Role

Instruct students in vocal and music skills, developing rhythm, sight-reading, music theory, and vocal abilities. Prepare students for performances and assist in other school programs as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in vocal and music skills for development and enhancement of rhythm, sight-reading, music theory and vocal abilities
• Prepare students for solo, stage and ensemble musical performances and recitals
• Organize student recitals, performances and talent shows as assigned
• Utilize musical instruments in classroom instruction and concert activities
• Design and facilitate engaging, high level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications
• Evaluate the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; monitor student progression and provide constructive critiques
• Collaborate with school and district personnel to evaluate effectiveness of curriculum and make suggestions for improvement
• Cooperate with school administrators in providing musical programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies, civic functions, etc.
• Meet with parents, administrators and school counselors as needed to discuss student performance, behavior, and academic goals

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in music education or related area of discipline
• Previous student teaching experience
• Valid SC Teaching License
• Current government issued identification
