Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor - Masters

About This Role

The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities, guiding them through the selection, preparation, and planning of personalized rehabilitation programs. This role involves assessing customer skills, developing employment plans, and arranging necessary services to facilitate successful employment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Collect customer's medical and psychological information to determine eligibility for services and monitor local labor market trends for effective job placement.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate customer's skills, abilities, occupational interests, and goals, then review data to identify appropriate opportunities.
• Interpret and explain medical, psychological, and vocational information to customers using counseling and guidance techniques, empowering them to make informed decisions.
• Collaborate with customers to develop and implement personalized rehabilitation and employment plans, evaluating progress and amending plans as needed.
• Arrange appointments, training sessions, and assessments, and process authorizations for services while ensuring vendor payments.
• Investigate and resolve customer and employer complaints, documenting customer data, case expenditures, and progress in case management systems.
• Educate employers and the public on rehabilitation services and promote qualified applicants with disabilities.
• Cultivate professional relationships with staff, vendors, school systems, agencies, employers, and community organizations to identify resources and promote services.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling OR Master's/doctoral program in related field with relevant course content
• Ability to enroll in and complete specified courses within 36 months if not holding a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling
• Complete a criminal history disclosure and submit to a TBI-based criminal history records check
• Ability to provide a transcript verifying degree and completed courses

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling OR Master's/doctoral program in a related field with emphasis on rehabilitation, counseling, disability, therapy, health, employment, wellness, or human development.
