About This Role

The DHS Licensing Consultant 1 works to ensure child and adult care facilities comply with licensure regulations and quality indicators. This role involves investigating complaints, making recommendations for licensure, and supporting facilities in quality improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct monitoring visits to providers, document findings, and serve as a technical advisor on rules, applications, grants, and rating assessment systems.
  • Identify programs needing improvements and assist in coordinating activities with quality partners to facilitate and monitor improvement plans.
  • Utilize internal monitoring and quality assessment tools to document necessary program features for accurate reporting.
  • Determine and evaluate solutions to potential barriers to licensure compliance and unique program needs, offering advanced counseling to existing or proposed agencies.
  • Investigate complaints of alleged violations of licensure regulations, including potential cases of abuse, neglect, illegal actions, and illegal operators.
  • Provide recommendations for actions against agencies based on monitoring and investigation results, potentially testifying in court, and instructing programs on corrective action plans.
  • Advise on developmentally appropriate practices by providing innovative technical assistance and coordinating targeted mentoring, coaching, and training activities.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with child/adult care providers and other internal/external partners to ensure correct application of regulations and support educationally rich environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • One year of relevant professional experience
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Clearance on Indicated Persons Registry and vulnerable persons registry
  • Valid driver's license

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of full-time professional experience in child/adult care program evaluation or administration, care of children/adults, professional education, professional human or social services, or para-professional experience assisting teachers or in child/adult care at a licensed or certified facility.
