About This Role

Provide direct outreach, vulnerability screening, escort, and referral services to homeless individuals within the transit system. This role involves extensive fieldwork, collaborative operations with external agencies, and comprehensive case-record management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct outreach to homeless individuals in the field during shifts
  • Conduct vulnerability screening and escort services
  • Offer referral services for homeless individuals
  • Record and maintain accurate statistical data on all individuals approached and referred
  • Manage case-records for clients receiving longer-term services
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Gain working knowledge of all available services
  • Conduct collaborative joint outreach operations with various external agencies

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Strong interest in direct services to the homeless and/or mentally ill and substance abusing populations
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Good writing skills for client interaction descriptions
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Working knowledge of available services
  • First Aid/CPR certification or ability to pass test to acquire these credentials

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Strong interest in working in direct services to the homeless and/or mentally ill and substance abusing populations
