Telemetry Monitor Technician

About This Role

This role involves monitoring and interpreting heart rhythm patterns using telemetry equipment, identifying normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms, and promptly notifying medical staff of critical changes to ensure timely patient care. The position requires strong observational skills and the ability to make critical judgments regarding potentially life-threatening cardiac events.

Responsibilities

• Monitor heart rhythm patterns to detect, record and report normal and abnormal heart rhythm patterns
• Monitor normal and abnormal ECG interval measurements
• Monitor proper and improper pacemaker or implantable defibrillator function using telemetry equipment
• Determine when heart rhythm patterns are normal, abnormal and/or life threatening
• Notify nursing and medical staff appropriately of changes in cardiac rhythms

Requirements

• Successful completion of Rhythm Recognition course
• Demonstrated medical terminology
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Potential ability to perform essential functions of the job

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in health-related degree preferred
• Six months previous experience as a monitor technician.
