Assist the surgical team in operating procedures by selecting and preparing instruments and supplies, and supporting patient movements. This role contributes to patient care within a world-class academic health system.
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team during operating procedures by passing instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeons and surgical assistants
- Select and layout instruments for operating procedures
- Prepare sterile supplies for operating procedures
- Prepare surgical trays for operating procedures
- Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery
- Move patients after completion of surgery for transfer to Recovery area
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system (may be required in certain areas)
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program
Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- Some experience as a Surgical Technologist desired
Nice to Have
- Some experience as a Surgical Technologist
- Certification from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
