Surgical Technologist

About This Role

Assist the surgical team in operating procedures by selecting and preparing instruments and supplies, and supporting patient movements. This role contributes to patient care within a world-class academic health system.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team during operating procedures by passing instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeons and surgical assistants
• Select and layout instruments for operating procedures
• Prepare sterile supplies for operating procedures
• Prepare surgical trays for operating procedures
• Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery
• Move patients after completion of surgery for transfer to Recovery area
• Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system (may be required in certain areas)

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent
• Some experience as a Surgical Technologist desired

Nice to Have

• Some experience as a Surgical Technologist
• Certification from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
