Surgical Technologist

About This Role

This role facilitates surgical procedures by managing instruments and supplies, ensuring the sterile field, and directly assisting physicians to provide quality patient care during operations.

Responsibilities

• Verify surgery to be performed with consent forms and bring patient to assigned operating room
• Pass instruments to surgeon during procedure, anticipating needs for additional supplies
• Perform appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed
• Prepare sterile dressings and secure them after incision closure
• Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
• Obtain appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure
• Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions
• Help drape sterile field
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
• Assist other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover and preparing for the next patient

Requirements

• Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology

Nice to Have

• Relevant acute care experience
• National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS)
