This role facilitates surgical procedures by managing instruments and supplies, ensuring the sterile field, and directly assisting physicians to provide quality patient care during operations.
Responsibilities
- Verify surgery to be performed with consent forms and bring patient to assigned operating room
- Pass instruments to surgeon during procedure, anticipating needs for additional supplies
- Perform appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed
- Prepare sterile dressings and secure them after incision closure
- Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
- Obtain appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure
- Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions
- Help drape sterile field
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
- Assist other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover and preparing for the next patient
Requirements
- Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification
Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology
Nice to Have
- Relevant acute care experience
- National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS)
