About This Role

Assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients as a Registered Professional Nurse by prescribing nursing care based on the nursing process, collaborating with the healthcare team, and coordinating patient care delivery across all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess patients, design and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate their effectiveness
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to formulate patient care plans
  • Provide patient/family education in all phases of care delivery to promote cooperation, allay apprehension, and ensure compliance
  • Respond to emergency patient situations or internal/external disasters following established protocols
  • Oversee the delivery of patient care and challenge or correct errors to ensure patient safety
  • Report observations, reactions, and problems regarding patients to appropriate persons in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for problem-solving and clinical decision-making on assigned shifts
  • Ensure continuity of care by promptly processing and following through on physician's orders and treatment plans
  • Demonstrate an ability to set appropriate priorities and respond to changes in workload
  • Act as the patient's advocate, ensuring patient rights and intervening when necessary
  • Delegate to CNA's and student nurses based on their current clinical competence and legal scope of practice
  • Document assessments, nursing interventions, and care provided to all assigned patients
  • Perform technical aspects of patient care according to established policies/procedures, adapting techniques to patients' unique needs
  • Prepare and administer medications and IVs with consideration of age-specific needs
  • Perform emergency procedures, such as CPR, and assess patient response

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • PALS certification
  • TNCC certification
  • Demonstrated competency in Dysrhythmia during Orientation for all depts except for Obstetrics and NICU

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Acute care facility experience
  • MICN and CEN certifications for the Emergency Dept
  • PICC competence for Procedures Nurse Interventional Radiology RNs

Certifications

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (Required) Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) (Required) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) (Required) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Healthstream Pediatric Advanced Life Support (HS-PALS) or RQIPALS (Required)
