About This Role

Assist the surgical team during operating procedures by selecting, preparing, and passing instruments, sponges, and sutures. This role involves continuous coverage for surgical procedures and assisting in the instruction of nursing personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgical team during operating procedures by passing instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeons and surgical assistants
  • Select and layout instruments for operating procedures
  • Prepare sterile supplies for operating procedures
  • Prepare surgical trays for operating procedures
  • Assist nursing staff in selecting and preparing operative supplies and equipment
  • Assist in the instruction of nursing personnel rotating through service
  • Provide continuous coverage for all surgical procedures
  • Participate in in-service training programs

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program
  • Two years' experience as a Surgical Technologist

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program.
  • 2 years' experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Nice to Have

  • Certification from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
