Surgery Scheduler

About This Role

Coordinate all aspects of patient surgery scheduling, including pre-operative and post-operative appointments, insurance verification, and authorization, to ensure seamless patient care.

Responsibilities

• Handle all scheduling for patient including pre-op and post-op appointments
• Verify insurance and obtain surgery authorizations and health clearances for the patient
• Ensure all pre-op studies are scheduled and completed
• Schedule clinical staff and OR times for the procedure
• Review with patient the risks and benefits of surgery/procedure per Doctor’s orders
• Enlist the patient in appropriate education classes prior to surgery as directed by the Physician
• Serve as a primary point of contact for the patient and a liaison with the physician and other departments
• Ensure all arrangements have been made for each surgical procedure, including obtaining necessary special equipment
• Provide resource and support to patients before, during, and after surgery, responding to inquiries and complaints
• Manage physician referral work queues by completing referrals
• Handle physician correspondence, forms and request for authorizations, and the physician’s calendar
• Prepare charts and review/perform/update demographics and insurance information
• Work with the billing team to provide information for requested audits and ensure appropriate surgical reports and charges are sent
• Collaborate with workers comp adjusters and case managers on request for authorizations and follow up to ensure completion
• Provide clinical or administrative support based on operational needs

Requirements

• HSD/GED
• Flu Vaccination (no exemption/no declinations)
• 1 year experience with surgery/procedure scheduling

Qualifications

• HSD/GED
• 1 year experience with surgery/procedure scheduling

Nice to Have

• Previous experience as PSR or MA
• Surgery center or hospital experience
