About This Role

This CAD Designer role involves checking drawing/design packages for compliance with industry and military standards, focusing on fit, function, manufacturability, and economic fabrication. The position requires expertise in GD&T and utilizes Siemens NX with Teamcenter for 3D modeling and drawing creation within an aerospace client's Mechanical Engineering Design team.

Responsibilities

  • Check drawing/design packages for proper content and compliance with applicable industry and military standards
  • Review designs for fit, function, manufacturability, and economy of fabrication
  • Perform tolerance analysis, hardware selection, and fitment on assembly prints
  • Resolve interpretation issues on drawings using GD&T expertise
  • Verify 3D models submitted to manufacturing utilizing Siemens NX managed with Teamcenter
  • Liaise with various engineering disciplines, Manufacturing, and Quality, and some vendor liaison
  • Model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Siemens NX managed with Teamcenter
  • Create/revise parametric drawings in conformance with ASME modeling and drawing standards
  • Review mechanical drawings with appropriate personnel verifying completed work, checking dimensions, materials and quantities to be used
  • Supervise and direct the activities of staff as requested

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain DoD security clearance
  • Experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerating (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5-2009
  • Experience with Digital Product Definition Practices per ASME Y14.41
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC Mill and Lathe operations
  • Experienced with Siemens NX and Teamcenter
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Comfortable working extended periods of time at a work station

Qualifications

  • 2 year Technical Degree in Drafting or Engineering
  • 6 years directly related experience with a 2-year Technical Degree in Drafting or Engineering

Nice to Have

  • GDTP Professional Certification
  • Experienced with weld design per AWS D17.1 and D1.1
  • AWS CWI certification
  • Experience working with DoD programs
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and MIL-Standard 100
