About This Role

This Staff Pharmacist position ensures pharmaceutical care by managing the medication process, preventing and resolving drug-related problems, and performing duties of a registered pharmacist within an acute care setting. The role focuses on promoting highest medication standards and patient safety for patients ranging from 0-adult.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure medications meet the highest standards
  • Participate in the education of patients, caregivers, and the community during discharge
  • Support patient safety systems
  • Check all available means of communication including e-mail, mailbox, and voicemail every shift
  • Ensure the smooth running of the pharmacy and act as a role model for technicians and other pharmacists
  • Maintain investigational drug records according to departmental policy
  • Contribute to the medication management process
  • Conduct discharge medication review (difficult to obtain, prescription accuracy) and counseling
  • Participate in study initiation, maintenance and closure

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Ph.D. in Pharmacy
  • RPH certification from the state of Texas

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Ph.D. in Pharmacy

Nice to Have

  • 2+ years hospital staff pharmacist experience
  • 20 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists
