This role involves coordinating complex patient care activities, administering the patient scheduling system, and supporting patient flow for the Outpatient Nutrition/GI clinic at The West Campus location of Texas Children's Hospital. The Lead Ambulatory Service Representative acts as an expert liaison for clinic functions and patient families.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient admission process, including check-in/welcome desk and registration
- Ensure patient orientation to virtual visit technology setup
- Perform patient registration procedures per department process
- Communicate with patients, staff, and providers regarding patient arrivals, delays, and clinic processes
- Alert staff and providers of any changes or discrepancies in patient’s scheduled appointments
- Refer all patients with no or inadequate funding to the financial counselor
- Change status of all appointments daily to reflect arrived, cancelled, no-show, or rescheduled status
- Review new referrals with the provider of the day regarding appropriate appointment status
- Assist licensed staff with non-financial aspects of the inpatient admission process
- Perform closing procedures including reconciling fee receipts and making deposits
- Coordinate schedules for the clinic
- Perform charge entry and reconciliation
- Provide appropriate customer service and communication to patients and families
- Provide basic office support, including ordering supplies and managing correspondence
- Ensure efficient patient flow and room management
- Assist in guiding the work of Ambulatory Services Representatives
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- 3 years' experience in a healthcare setting
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- 3 years' experience in a healthcare setting with preferred pediatric and supervisory experience
