About This Role

This role involves performing receptionist and clerical duties for a hospital unit, representing the hospital with effective customer service, ensuring visitation guidelines are followed, and assisting patient families.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a receptionist to all visitors, providing appropriate information upon request
  • Accurately take and deliver family messages, locating families at the request of health team members
  • Interact with other health care team members to meet patient and family needs
  • Promptly and courteously answer patient calls and notify appropriate clinicians of patient needs
  • Greet all visitors courteously with respect to social, cultural, and ethnic needs
  • Act as a resource to families/visitors by providing information about hospital services and city information
  • Work with housekeeper/USA and volunteers to maintain visitors' areas
  • Ensure proper utilization of waiting areas, explaining and enforcing hospital visitation guidelines
  • Report problems quickly to appropriate supervisor or security
  • Provide proactive customer service functions to employees and visitors, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Coordinate area communication system/procedures
  • Greet all persons entering and exiting the unit and provide identification stickers to visitors
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Program

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience as secretarial/administrative coordinator in hospital/doctor’s office
