This Staff Pharmacist II position at North Mississippi Health Services involves multifaceted responsibilities across clinical care, education, operations, research, and regulatory compliance. The role coordinates patient care, provides medication education, conducts research, and ensures adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating and providing care to patients across the continuum of care
- Serve as a resource person to support pharmacy personnel and other healthcare professionals
- Assist in designing and coordinating clinical pharmacy services
- Assist in training pharmacy staff
- Monitor and manage drug therapy in designated patient populations
- Develop care plans/guidelines to include drug, devices, and delivery modalities
- Provide pharmacotherapy education and assist in programs to meet the needs of the pharmacy staff
- Develop objectives for and facilitate student/resident training
- Provide medication use education to patients, family members, and the community
- Participate in departmental performance improvement programs and maintain CE hours
- Assist in prevention, detection, and resolution of medicine abuse
- Verify patient health insurance benefits and precertifications for Third Party Payors
- Coordinate, conduct, and participate in pharmacology research/development
- Ensure departmental compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy
- Licensed as a Pharmacist by the State Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum of 3 years experience in comparable health system pharmacy
- American Society of Health Systems Pharmacy Residency (ASHP) or 3 years clinical practice experience
- American Society of Health Systems Pharmacy Residency (ASHP) or 3 years operational experience
- Previous patient care or equivalent experience with demonstrated proficiency in clinical areas
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in multiple clinical or operational areas
- Knowledge and skill across broad or specialized populations
- Ability to interact with patient population of all ages (infants to geriatrics)
- Ability to work independently
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy, PhD Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience in comparable health system pharmacy, plus ASHP Residency or 3 years clinical/operational practice experience
