Staff Accountant

About This Role

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records. This role supports the monthly close process, maintains general ledger accounts, and assists with financial reporting activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP and organizational policies
• Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes by meeting assigned deadlines and documentation requirements
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure proper account classification
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and management summaries
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to obtain accurate financial data
• Maintain accounting records in accordance with record retention and internal control requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
• At least one year of accounting experience
• Basic working knowledge of GAAP
• Basic working knowledge of general ledger accounting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
• At least one year of accounting experience in a corporate, healthcare, or professional services environment, with basic working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a healthcare, medical group, MSO, or multi-entity environment
• Experience with month-end close
• Experience with account reconciliations
• Familiarity with accounting systems or ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Workday, Oracle, or similar)
