Staff Accountant

About This Role

This role will support a client's accounting operations in Overland Park, Kansas, performing various general ledger tasks. The accountant will oversee monthly processes, manage fixed assets, reconcile statements, and ensure compliance with organizational policies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly accounting processes, including billing and accounts payable, ensuring compliance with organizational policies
• Manage the tracking of fixed assets, including purchases, disposals, and depreciation schedules
• Reconcile monthly bank statements and investigate outstanding cash items
• Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts to maintain accuracy
• Analyze and provide explanations for month-end transactions and adjustments
• Develop workflows and transform them into standard operating procedures to optimize office processes
• Maintain ethical and legal compliance in all accounting responsibilities
• Collaborate with teams to address ad hoc accounting tasks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
• Proficiency in accounting systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple entities and projects simultaneously
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Capacity to work independently while maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality
• Experience with month-end close, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and accruals

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with attention to detail
