Staff Accountant

About This Role

East Coast Warehouse & Distribution is seeking an entry-level Staff Accountant to join their finance team in Dayton, NJ. This role involves supporting day-to-day accounting operations, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping according to company policies and GAAP standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and posting of journal entries
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank and general ledger accounts
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Maintain and update financial records and documentation
• Help prepare financial reports and support schedules
• Support audit requests by gathering documentation
• Assist with expense tracking and fixed asset recordkeeping
• Identify discrepancies and escalate issues to senior accounting staff

Requirements

• Basic understanding of GAAP
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team-oriented mindset

Qualifications

• 6 months – 1 year of finance/accounting experience (internships considered)

Nice to Have

• Internship experience in accounting or finance
• Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems
• Experience in distribution, logistics, or related industries
