About This Role

The Shift Lead at Walgreens is responsible for opening and closing the store, managing cash handling, and ensuring operational readiness. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service and supporting store management in various retail operations.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store, including system start-ups and cash handling, in the absence of store management
  • Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops, and provide change for cash registers
  • Engage customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues
  • Share customer service best practices and coach team members on distinctive customer experience
  • Assist with and coach team members on warehouse and vendor ordering processes
  • Accurately register all sales on assigned cash register, including handling scanning errors and price modifications
  • Assist store management in reviewing order exceptions and managing reverse logistics (e.g., returns)
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining merchandise displays, including promotional and seasonal setups
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure accuracy of on-hand quantities across departments
  • Ensure compliance with the Outdate program and basic department pricing, including daily price changes
  • Assist with bookkeeping activities, such as cash reports, cash counts, and bill payments
  • Ensure exterior and interior store cleanliness and appearance, and request repairs when necessary
  • Assist with separation of food items, product placement, and stock rotation using FIFO method
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages)
  • Serve as a liaison between management and non-management team members, communicating tasks

Requirements

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English

Qualifications

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of store inventory control
  • Valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license (as required by state)
