About This Role

The Shift Lead at Walgreens is responsible for opening and closing the store, managing cash handling, processing customer transactions, and ensuring a positive customer experience. This role supports store operations, inventory management, and guides team members.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store, including system start-ups and cash handling, in the absence of store management
  • Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, and cash drops
  • Engage customers and patients, resolve issues, and answer questions to ensure a positive experience
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members
  • Hold store keys to open and close as necessary
  • Assist with and coach team members on warehouse and vendor ordering processes
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register, including processing errors and modifications
  • Assist in reviewing order exceptions and reverse logistics
  • Evaluate and develop displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and on-hand quantities
  • Ensure the Outdate program is followed with team members
  • Manage basic department pricing and daily price changes, ensuring proper signage and compliance with local regulations
  • Assist with bookkeeping activities including cash reports, counts, ledgers, and bill payment
  • Ensure clean, neat, and orderly store condition and appearance, including requesting repairs
  • Assist with separation of food items and product placement, and ensure stock rotation
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products
  • Serve as a liaison between management and non-management team members, communicating assigned tasks

Requirements

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English

Qualifications

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of store inventory control
