Shift Lead

About This Role

The Shift Lead is an essential member of Grand Central Bakery's cafe team, serving as the Person in Charge to ensure efficient operations, an inviting environment, and delicious products. This role involves delivering outstanding customer service, solving problems, and fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Person in Charge (PIC), running the floor by managing work assignments, breaks, and problem-solving.
• Deliver outstanding customer service following established guidelines, sharing product knowledge, and anticipating customer needs.
• Operate proficiently at all trained stations and shifts, including opening, closing, sandwich bar, and pastry baking.
• Accurately handle cash and follow all POS procedures.
• Make and serve all cafe products to specifications, identifying and removing substandard items.
• Train team members on correct and safe work procedures, utilizing café resources.
• Demonstrate a proactive "pitches in" mentality, helping others and maintaining cafe cleanliness.
• Contribute to training and coaching team members on the floor.
• Adhere to all safety requirements and promptly report hazards or injuries.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Valid Food Handler's Card
• Ability to add, subtract, and perform basic math
• Basic computer skills, including email programs like MS Outlook

Qualifications

• 1+ years of front of house food service experience, including making and serving products.
