The Knowledge Exchange Fellow will join REWIRE, a UKRI-funded Innovation and Knowledge Centre, to lead the development of a strategic roadmap for wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor power devices. This role involves connecting engineering innovation with business insight, economic analysis, and policy needs to strengthen the UK's position in advanced power electronics.
Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of a technology-focused national roadmap for high-voltage Wide Bandgap (WBG) and Ultra-Wide Bandgap (UWBG) semiconductor devices.
- Research technology, market, and policy trends related to semiconductor power devices.
- Analyze the UK’s capabilities in power electronics relative to international developments.
- Generate high-quality outputs for technical, business, policy, and public audiences.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange between engineering and business disciplines.
- Work closely with REWIRE’s partners at the Universities of Bristol, Cambridge, and Warwick.
- Represent REWIRE at national and international events.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary proposal development and foster collaboration among researchers and students.
- Perform essential administrative tasks relating to project governance, reporting, data management, and health and safety compliance.
Requirements
- Strong background in a technical discipline relevant to power electronics (e.g., physics, engineering, or materials science) OR a business-focused discipline
- Comfortable working across technical and non-technical domains to turn complex research into actionable insights
- Experience of collaboration across academia, industry, and government
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage work independently and manage multiple stakeholders
- Ability to deliver high-quality, impactful outputs
