Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

As a Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will assist pharmacists in practicing pharmacy according to state and federal regulations, performing duties such as processing prescriptions and managing inventory. You will also provide distinctive customer service and mentor other pharmacy technicians.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of cash registers
• Engage customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services, and resolve customer issues
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including blood/urine sample collection and proper labeling
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager

Requirements

• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico)
• One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
• Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in specific locations)

Qualifications

• One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.

Nice to Have

• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills (counting, measuring and weighing medications)
• Basic level PC skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
