Security Officer I

About This Role

The Security Officer I protects the life and property of all persons on YKHC premises and patrols buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. This role involves securing and patrolling YKHC buildings, responding to security needs, and ensuring the safety and security of people and property.

Responsibilities

• Protect life and property on YKHC premises
• Patrol buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism
• Secure, unlock, protect, and patrol YKHC buildings (interior/exterior)
• Respond to security needs of YKHC personnel
• Patrol utilizing YKHC vehicles
• Use surveillance equipment, access control points, and alarms
• Periodically tour assigned facilities to identify irregularities and uphold order
• Deter crime, prevent theft, and act as a first responder for emergency and non-emergency situations
• Write activity logs and reports, recording daily events and illegal activity
• Respond to all YKHC codes and emergency preparedness events/incidents and provide traffic control

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 12 hours
• Capable of following complex instructions

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• No experience and/or prior security experience recommended

Nice to Have

• Yupik/English preferred
