About This Role

Provide direct nursing care on the Neuro Med Surg unit (20 beds with an additional 5-bed Rehab unit) at St. Agnes Hospital. This role focuses on treating a wide range of neurological disorders, neuro surgical cases, general medical surgery patients, and chronic heart failure cases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Increase quality of care and life for patients, families, and significant others by evaluating nursing practice.
  • Establish effective relationships and advocate for patients and families to develop care plans.
  • Use the nursing process to develop and implement care plans, collecting assessment data, determining diagnoses, identifying outcomes, and evaluating results.
  • Develop assessment and management strategies considering various dimensions of human responses to health problems.
  • Utilize leadership skills to coordinate and collaborate with patients, families, and inter-professional teams.
  • Utilize effective communication for collaborative decision-making that is culturally sensitive, ethical, and holistic.
  • Educate patients, families, and significant others on health promotion, maintenance, restoration, or comfort measures.
  • Foster a healthy work environment by mentoring and serving as a role model for nursing colleagues and students.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to medical-surgical nursing, ensuring age-specific and clinical needs are met.
  • Perform point of care testing according to policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
  • Ability to work night shift (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Ability to work every third weekend rotation
