About This Role

Provide direct patient care to behavioral health patients within the chemical dependency unit, completing assessments, implementing treatment plans, and ensuring patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Complete admitting and shift assessments on assigned patients including behaviors, accurately and within policy timeframes
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and judgment to analyze patient assessment data and notify physician of changes in condition
  • Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of multidisciplinary treatment plans
  • Document all nursing care given and adhere to nursing standards and ministry policies and procedures
  • Consistently and accurately implement and record physicians' orders
  • Assess and monitor patients and environment for safety within the unit
  • Serve as a clinical resource and supervise care delivered by LPNs and techs
  • Educate patients and families based on assessed needs and document education provided in the Electronic Health Record
  • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring age-specific and clinical needs are met
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in state of work location (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin)

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
  • No experience required
