Provide direct patient care to behavioral health patients within the chemical dependency unit, completing assessments, implementing treatment plans, and ensuring patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Complete admitting and shift assessments on assigned patients including behaviors, accurately and within policy timeframes
- Utilize critical thinking skills and judgment to analyze patient assessment data and notify physician of changes in condition
- Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of multidisciplinary treatment plans
- Document all nursing care given and adhere to nursing standards and ministry policies and procedures
- Consistently and accurately implement and record physicians' orders
- Assess and monitor patients and environment for safety within the unit
- Serve as a clinical resource and supervise care delivered by LPNs and techs
- Educate patients and families based on assessed needs and document education provided in the Electronic Health Record
- Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring age-specific and clinical needs are met
- Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in state of work location (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin)
