Respiratory Care Practitioner I Registered

About This Role

Assume primary clinical responsibility for performing all respiratory care modalities under physician supervision, exercising independent clinical judgment to deliver care to patients across all hospital areas. Serve as a technical resource for physicians and hospital staff on current respiratory care practices.

Responsibilities

• Read and evaluate physician orders, clarifying as needed
• Accurately transcribe physician orders to electronic charting system
• Review patient information and systematically assess cardiopulmonary status
• Interpret data to formulate goal-directed plan of care and determine treatment requirements
• Determine modifications to physician orders to optimize patient care and make recommendations
• Perform diagnostic procedures including ABG sampling and analysis, co-oximetry, and spirometry
• Select, assemble, and check equipment for proper function, operation, and cleanliness
• Initiate, conduct, and modify prescribed therapeutic or diagnostic procedures
• Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy and adjust procedures based on patient response
• Document all required information in the medical record according to policy and procedure
