About This Role

Provide direct patient care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess needs, plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing regimens in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards. Demonstrate leadership and commitment to professional growth within White Plains Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respectful care for all patients, promoting mutual respect, shared decision making, and informed consent regardless of background
  • Utilize the nursing process to meet age-specific patient needs in biophysical, psychosocial, education, safety/environment, and discharge planning
  • Administer blood and blood products according to policy
  • Collaborate and communicate with the interdisciplinary health care team
  • Integrate patient rights and nursing ethics into work practice
  • Adhere to infection control standards to reduce risk of nosocomial infections
  • Adhere to the tenets of the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals
  • Delegate activities to ancillary staff as it relates to the State Nurse Practice Act
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics & Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice
  • Support, promote, and practice within the WPH Professional Nursing Practice Model
  • Sustain and advance the Magnet model
  • Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives
  • Assume Charge Nurse responsibility

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current New York RN license/registration
  • BSN Required
  • Knowledge of current nursing, medical and health trends and practices in rendering of patient care
  • BLS certification (through American Heart Association)

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current New York RN license/registration. BSN Required.
  • One year of acute care nursing experience preferred for areas other than medical surgical or step-down

Nice to Have

  • One year of acute care nursing experience preferred for areas other than medical surgical or step-down
  • Current cancer-specific certification in the nurse’s specialty by an accredited certification program OR ongoing education by earning 36 cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours every 3 years
  • De-escalation training within 1 year of hire for Emergency Department RNs
