Provide specialized nursing care in the Pediatric Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit (PCTU) at Mott Children's Hospital. Care for high acuity pediatric and adult patients with congenital and acquired heart disease in a technology-intensive environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex physiologic patient assessments for high acuity patients with rapidly changing status
- Care for patients in a technology intensive environment including ECMO, CRRT and VAD's
- Practice in close partnership with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and fellows
- Provide individual support and education to families and patients throughout their intensive care unit admission
- Float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census
Requirements
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse License
- 12-24 months of current PICU RN experience
- PALS certification (or within six (6) months of date of hire)
Qualifications
- 12-24 months of current PICU RN experience
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of, and experience with, the congenital heart patient population
- BSN preferred
- ACLS
- Demonstrated excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated strong collaborative skills
- Demonstrated skill with and knowledge of the principals of Patient and Family Centered Care
