Registered Nurse

About This Role

Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients in the Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital Labor and Delivery and High Risk units, focusing on obstetrical triage, antepartum, intrapartum, peri-operative, postpartum, and peri-anesthesia care for women, their fetuses, and newborns.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on scientific nursing principles
• Collaborate with clerical staff, patient care technicians, and surgical technologists
• Provide direction and delegation to clerical staff, patient care technicians, and surgical technologists
• Uphold VVWH Nursing Standards of Care, AORN Standards, ASPAN Standards, and AWHONN Standards
• Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Michigan Medicine
• Support all policies, guidelines, procedures and processes
• Participate in professional leadership opportunities on the unit (e.g., unit committees, charge nurse, new employee orientation precepting, teaching classes and inservices)

Requirements

• License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
• Two years full-time current or recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient Labor & Delivery unit
• Ability to work up to 40 hours/week on Day or A-shift during orientation
• Successfully complete Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) credentialing within the first three (3) months

Qualifications

• Two years full-time current or recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient Labor & Delivery unit

Nice to Have

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree highly desired
• One year adult Med/Surg, RN experience
• Certification in obstetrics specialty or electronic fetal monitoring
• Certification in peri-operative nursing (e.g. CNOR) or peri-anesthesia nursing (e.g. CPAN)
• ACLS or OB ACLS certification
• Successful completion of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring course
