Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients in the Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital Labor and Delivery and High Risk units, focusing on obstetrical triage, antepartum, intrapartum, peri-operative, postpartum, and peri-anesthesia care for women, their fetuses, and newborns.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on scientific nursing principles
- Collaborate with clerical staff, patient care technicians, and surgical technologists
- Provide direction and delegation to clerical staff, patient care technicians, and surgical technologists
- Uphold VVWH Nursing Standards of Care, AORN Standards, ASPAN Standards, and AWHONN Standards
- Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Michigan Medicine
- Support all policies, guidelines, procedures and processes
- Participate in professional leadership opportunities on the unit (e.g., unit committees, charge nurse, new employee orientation precepting, teaching classes and inservices)
Requirements
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Two years full-time current or recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient Labor & Delivery unit
- Ability to work up to 40 hours/week on Day or A-shift during orientation
- Successfully complete Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) credentialing within the first three (3) months
Qualifications
- Two years full-time current or recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient Labor & Delivery unit
Nice to Have
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree highly desired
- One year adult Med/Surg, RN experience
- Certification in obstetrics specialty or electronic fetal monitoring
- Certification in peri-operative nursing (e.g. CNOR) or peri-anesthesia nursing (e.g. CPAN)
- ACLS or OB ACLS certification
- Successful completion of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring course
