Registered Nurse Outpatient Oncology

About This Role

This role involves providing oncology therapies such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy, utilizing evidence-based nursing practices. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while adhering to safety protocols, cost containment, and quality improvement standards in an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapies in the oncology setting, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood product transfusions
• Demonstrate clinical competency using evidence-based practices in all areas of the nursing process
• Incorporate knowledge of safety protocols, cost containment, and quality improvement
• Adhere to all compliance and policy and procedure requirements of the organization
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and direct patient care activities
• Arrange patient appointments for diagnostic testing, consults, referrals, and hospital admission
• Monitor and maintain medical supply stock and equipment functioning
• Document patients' vital statistics and other encounter data into patient charts
• Call in prescriptions for patients according to physician orders
• Prepare exam rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment

Requirements

• Associate' degree in Nursing
• One (1) year experience as a registered nurse or equivalent
• Current RN compact/multistate license or state-specific RN license

Qualifications

• Associate' degree in Nursing. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse, or successful completion of a Nurse Residency Program, or 1 year of LPN experience.
