About This Role

Improve community health by providing general nursing care, education, and a range of services, bridging the roles of provider, medical assistant, and support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessment, analysis, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and health teaching
  • Triage walk-in patients and phone calls using the nursing process to assess the level of care needed
  • Define the history of present illness, update medications, and collect a comprehensive medical, surgical, and social history
  • Perform mental health, chemical dependency, and functional needs assessments
  • Facilitate patient care and document all communication into the electronic health record
  • Manage the work flows for the care team, including labs, testing, and imaging, delegating to support staff when appropriate
  • Use algorithms and protocols to refill medications
  • Coordinate with providers and medical assistants to prioritize patient care and provide efficient patient flow in the clinic
  • Observe and follow required safety protocols, including handling and disposal of sharps and use of personal protective equipment
  • Provide oversight and delegation of tasks to LPN and MA staff
  • Obtain orders from provider, written or verbal, in accordance with Washington State Department of Health licensing board scope of practice
  • Work within scope of practice as determined by Washington State Department of Health at all times

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State RN License
  • Excellent customer service skills and compassion for patients
  • Basic computer user skills, with the ability to document electronically clearly and efficiently
  • Excellent oral communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and with the care team
  • CPR/BLS certified

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from four-year college or university, preferred.
  • Experience in a clinic setting as a Registered Nurse preferred. Experience in triage and in the Community Health setting a plus.
