Registered Nurse, Medical Inpatient Unit

About This Role

Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process at a critical access hospital. Assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care for patients while contributing to interdisciplinary teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span consistent with educational preparation
• Collect, analyze and record relevant patient health data accurately
• Analyze assessment data to identify patient problems
• Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient
• Develop a plan of care that describes interventions to attain expected outcomes
• Implement and record interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem
• Evaluate the patient's progress toward attainment of identified goals
• Adhere to approved, research-based practice standards
• Direct and supervise patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel
• Demonstrate consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care
• Advocate for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects their autonomy, dignity and rights
• Deliver care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity
• Assure that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures
• Act on behalf of patients in an ethical manner
• Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses
• Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice
• Provide proof of current licensure validation to supervisor
• Complete required unit credentialing according to departmental policy
• Provide to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation
• Participate in level appropriate number of hours of educational activity related to job function annually
• Participate in nursing research

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program
• NYS licensure as Registered Nurse or valid interim permit
• New graduate or less than one year of experience as a Registered Nurse

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, Bachelor's Degree preferred
• New graduate or less than one year of experience as a Registered Nurse, required
