About This Role

Effectively utilize the nursing process to provide immediate and long-term nursing care for patients, adhering to departmental and hospital standards. This role involves assessing patient needs, planning and implementing interventions, and evaluating care effectiveness within a recovery-oriented framework.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assess patients' immediate and potential health needs and functional status
  • Utilize a Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths and support recovery goals
  • Perform point of care testing and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team
  • Document patient responses to interventions on the Nursing Plan of Care and Assessment Flowsheet
  • Identify and de-escalate crisis situations using non-verbal and verbal techniques
  • Administer medications safely, accurately, and timely using BMV scanning
  • Lead and participate in patient groups, promoting least-restrictive alternatives
  • Provide direction and supervision to Mental Health Specialists (MHSs) and delegate care interventions
  • Assume a leadership role in medical and psychiatric emergencies, including critical incident debriefing
  • Provide health teaching to patients and significant others related to needs and recovery goals

Requirements

  • Certificate/Diploma in Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State License
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to utilize the nursing process and work collaboratively

Qualifications

  • Certificate/Diploma Nursing or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
  • No experience required; one year medical/psychiatric experience preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • One year medical/psychiatric experience
