About This Role

This Registered Nurse (RN) position involves providing direct and indirect patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The role focuses on developing and coordinating nursing care plans, communicating changes in patient conditions, and participating in discharge planning.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the standard of nursing care and implement hospital policies and procedures
  • Direct, supervise, provide, and evaluate nursing care provided to patients
  • Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs, potential for harm, complexity, and scope of practice
  • Assign nursing care team members based on patient needs and team member capabilities
  • Document patient admission assessment, reassessments, and care plans completely in the medical record
  • Perform assessments on all patients upon admission and reassessments as per policy, making referrals as needed
  • Develop and update nursing care plans, ensuring coordination with the patient, family, and other team members
  • Assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain management techniques, and educate patient/family
  • Revise the plan of care based on patient response to treatment and evaluate overall effectiveness daily
  • Perform patient care responsibilities considering age-specific needs and standard of care
  • Receive and accurately transcribe physician's orders, documenting completion
  • Administer medication utilizing the five rights of medication administration to reduce errors
  • Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs, evaluating effectiveness and including family as appropriate
  • Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and special procedures, performing technical and manual skills within scope of practice
  • Perform treatments and provide services up to the level of licensure
  • Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs
  • Initiate or assist with emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients’ condition
  • Provide end of shift report to oncoming nurse, ensuring narcotics are counted, documentation is complete, and physician orders are signed off
  • Communicate appropriately and clearly to management, co-workers, and physicians
  • Identify and address psychosocial needs of patients and family, communicating with Social Service/Discharge Planner
  • Participate in orientation, instruction/training of new personnel
  • Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse
  • BCLS certification

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program
  • Minimum six months’ Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting preferred

Nice to Have

  • Minimum six months’ Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting
  • ACLS certification
