Join the Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) at the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion, a 24-bed ICU, to provide high-level, specialty care to patients with neurosurgical, neurological, stroke, otolaryngology, and oral maxillofacial surgery needs. This role involves caring for complex medical problems such as thrombectomies, post-operative craniotomies, TBI, and Status Epilepticus.
Responsibilities
- Care for patients from neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, otolaryngology, and oral maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) services
- Manage medical problems including thrombectomies, post-operative craniotomies, and intracranial hemorrhage/hematomas
- Provide care for severe head and/or spinal cord injuries, increased intracranial pressure, and free flaps
- Perform tracheostomy care/management, manage traumatic brain injuries (TBI), Myasthenia Gravis, Status Epilepticus, and Guillain-Barre syndrome
- Float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census
Requirements
- Current Michigan RN license
- Minimum of one (1) year of critical care RN experience within the last five (5) years
- Valid ACLS certification solely through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of critical care RN experience within the last five (5) years
Nice to Have
- BSN preferred
- Otolaryngology, Oral Maxillofacial, Neurology, or Stroke nursing care experience
- CCRN certification
- Possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong patient advocate mentality and teamwork approach
