About This Role

Provide professional nursing care for patients in Maternity Services at Catawba Valley Medical Center, making appropriate decisions based on age and condition, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care
  • Make nursing care decisions appropriate for the age and condition of the patient, using the nursing process
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals to meet the needs of the patient
  • Adhere to CVMC/departmental policies, procedures, and philosophy to deliver quality patient care
  • Practice within the guidelines of the North Carolina State Nurse Practice Act
  • Abide by the CVMC Nursing Bylaws

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program
  • Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State
  • BCLS certification (AHA certification required within three months if not already AHA)
  • ACLS within three months (Birthing Center, Critical Care, Day Surgery, Emergency Dept., Heart and Vascular Services, Intermediate Care Unit, PACU)
  • NRP within three months (Birthing Center, Level III Nursery, Newborn Nursery)
  • PALS within three months (Day Surgery, Emergency Dept., Heart and Vascular Services, PACU, Pediatrics)
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification within three months (Emergency Dept., Psychiatry)
  • Quality Indicator credentialing within three months (Inpatient Rehabilitation)
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate Course within eight months (Infusion Center for full-time RNs)
  • STABLE within one year (Level III Nursery, Newborn Nursery)
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate Course within one year (Oncology)
  • ONS Radiation Oncology Certificate Program within one year (Radiation Oncology)
  • Proficient in basic aspects of job within three months
  • Able to assume call responsibilities within three months
  • Heart and Vascular Services: six months of cardiac monitoring experience

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program
  • No previous experience required, with specific exceptions based on practice area

Nice to Have

  • BSN
  • Specialty course work in area of practice
  • Certification in area of practice
  • Critical Care Unit and PACU: six months of cardiac monitoring experience
  • Prior work experience in requested practice area (all other units)

Certifications

ACLS (Required) BCLS certification (Required) NRP (Required)
