About This Role

Provide safe nursing care to infant to young adult patients in the Pediatric Critical Care Cluster, floating among various units including PICU, PCTU, and NICU, requiring knowledge of multiple pediatric specialties and advanced medical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe nursing care to a variety of patients, ages infant to young adult
  • Float among Pediatric Critical Care units including PICU, PCTU, Brandon (NICU), and 11W Moderate Care
  • Function and work with multiple pediatric specialties
  • Work with various central venous lines
  • Administer specialized intravenous (IV) medication drips and dosages
  • Care for patients requiring ventilatory support and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide family-centered care

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
  • Two (2) years of recent Pediatric ICU (PICU) or Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic ICU (PCTU) RN experience
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of recent Pediatric ICU (PICU) or Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic ICU (PCTU) RN experience

Nice to Have

  • BSN preferred
  • Recent experience in Pediatric or Neonatal Critical Care
  • Experience as a float RN in a Pediatric ICU hospital setting
  • NRP Certification
  • Knowledge of the University of Michigan Health System's nursing policies and practice
  • Demonstrated team player skills
  • Positive communication skills
  • Experience with family centered care philosophy
  • Takes initiative in seeking professional growth
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate work to assistive personnel
