Registered Nurse - Campus Float Pool

About This Role

Provide direct nursing care as a Registered Nurse in the campus float pool, adhering to established policies and protocols to ensure high-quality patient care and improved quality of life for patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization
• Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice using standards of medical-surgical nursing practice
• Establish effective relationships and advocate with patients, families, and significant others to facilitate care plan development
• Use the nursing process to develop and implement care plans, collect assessment data, determine nursing diagnoses, identify patient outcomes, determine interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Develop assessment and management strategies based on a consideration of human responses to actual and potential health problems across various dimensions
• Demonstrate knowledge of the impact of actual or potential illness and each patient's status across various dimensions
• Coordinate and collaborate with the patient, family, significant other(s), communities, and interprofessional team members
• Utilize effective communication for collaborative decision making that is culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, holistic, informed, compassionate, and humane
• Educate the patient, family, and significant other(s) about measures that promote, maintain, and restore health or comfort
• Foster a healthy work environment by serving as a mentor and role model for nursing colleagues and students
• Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to medical-surgical nursing practice, ensuring age-specific and clinical needs are met
• Perform point of care testing according to policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
• One year registered nurse experience (Ministry Float) or two years' registered nurse experience (Regional Float)
