Provide comprehensive acute care to patients with benign and malignant hematopoietic system disorders within the Hematology/Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Neuro-Oncology services, as well as Surgical patients. This role involves specialized oncology care and requires hospital-based chemotherapy training.
Responsibilities
- Care for patients within Hematology/Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Neuro-Oncology services
- Care for surgical patients from Acute Care Surgery Surgical services
- Provide comprehensive care for patients with benign and malignant disorders of the hematopoietic system
- Attend hospital-based chemotherapy training and achieve administration competency
- Attend a Chemotherapy Course developed in partnership with National Cancer Institutions
- Attend an Oncology Overview Course
- Float to designated unit(s) in times of low census
Requirements
- Current Michigan RN license (or successfully pass NCLEX within 45 days for GN applicants)
Nice to Have
- BSN preferred
- OCN preferred
- Oncology experience preferred
- Desire to work with oncology population
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, communication, delegation skills, and problem-solving skills
