Refrigeration Technician

About This Role

Maintain, repair, and examine refrigeration systems, specifically those using ammonia. The role involves performing preventative maintenance, responding to system interruptions, and being available for emergency repairs, while also assisting with critical documentation and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Support the PSM and Refrigeration team in maintaining PSM, Refrigeration, and Safety documentation retention (SOPs, LOTOs, P&IDs)
• Maintain Preventative Maintenance (PMs) of refrigeration systems
• Confer with operators and observe, test, and evaluate equipment operation to diagnose malfunctions
• Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs
• Perform daily chemical testing, log results, and make adjustments to maintain refrigeration and utility systems within established limits
• Periodically use and maintain a fitted full-face respirator
• Assist with inventory control

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 7+ years experience
• Technician II certification
• PSM/RMP certification
• Ability to pass and maintain annual medical and pulmonary fit tests for respirator use
• Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical degree in preferred.
• 7+ years of experience

• Experience in refrigerated food manufacturing plants
