About This Role

The Psychoeducation Specialist provides direct patient care at Lorain Hospital, facilitating groups and individual activities tailored to patient needs. This role involves discharge planning, community resource coordination, and completing leisure assessments under the guidance of a healthcare professional.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate groups and provide individual activities tailored to specific patient needs within scope
  • Participate in family meetings and treatment team meetings
  • Collaborate on discharge planning with the Social Worker team
  • Coordinate community resources and specialized activities like pet therapy, nutrition, and yoga
  • Complete leisure assessments
  • Contribute to care planning
  • Provide 1:1 patient safety companion service as needed
  • Perform 15-minute patient checks as assigned
  • Complete required BSMH and departmental specific training

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 1 year of experience in social or human services
  • Relevant state and national licensure/certification

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Expressive Therapy (Music, Dance/Movement), Counseling, or Human Services
  • 1 year in social or human services setting
