About This Role

Assist physicians in performing invasive and noninvasive cardiac, structural heart interventions, and vascular procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. This role involves preparing patients, operating complex medical equipment, and monitoring patient conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and document all pertinent pre-procedural information obtained from patient and medical record
  • Prepare patients for procedures using proper positioning and surgical prep of procedural site(s)
  • Maintain sterile technique while assisting physician during cardiac adult and pediatric / EP / vascular procedures
  • Operate digital medical and fluoroscopic equipment during procedures
  • Continuously monitor patient's condition through interpretation of EKG and hemodynamic waveforms
  • Document procedural events and ensure accuracy of recorded waveforms and calculations
  • Finalize procedural reports and transfer all images and hemodynamic information to the server
  • Load automatic injector with contrast media and inject via catheter at a rate of volume selected by physician
  • Use provided computer applications to ensure accurate charge capture on procedural and supply charges
  • Stock and inventory equipment and supply readiness utilizing hospital inventory system
  • Participate in unit performance improvement / quality management measures

Requirements

  • Vocational/Technical Degree
  • RCIS credentialed through Cardiovascular Credentialing International and/or RT through ARRT
  • BLS / ACLS certification
  • Basic dysrhythmia course
  • 6 to 12 months on-the-job training in electrocardiograph interpretation, aseptic techniques, and cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Knowledge of heart anatomy, physiology, and radiographic procedures

Qualifications

  • Vocational/Technical Degree
  • 6 to 12 months on-the-job training in electrocardiograph interpretation, aseptic techniques, and cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures. Previous Cath Lab or RT experience preferred but not required.

  • Previous Cath Lab experience
  • Previous RT experience
  • Registry as an invasive Cardiovascular Specialist through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International
