Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (New York Licensed PMHNP)

About This Role

Assess and diagnose patients' mental and physical health, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans including psychotherapy and medication management.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop, implement, or evaluate treatment plans
• Conduct individual psychotherapy for patients with chronic or acute mental disorders
• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, and educate patients on risks, benefits, and side effects
• Monitor patients’ medication usage, side effects, and results
• Evaluate patients’ behavior and response to treatment to assess the effectiveness of interventions
• Educate patients and family members about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and medications
• Document patients’ medical and psychological histories, physical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes in the EHR
• Practice in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and national standards of care
• Assess patients’ mental and physical status based on presenting symptoms and complaints
• Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions

Requirements

• 2 years experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner
• Currently holds a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP) in New York and Florida
• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health
• Motivational Interviewing experience
• Experience working with adults in need of general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment
• Experience and comfort working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13yrs+)
• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or substance abuse dual-diagnoses
• Treatment planning skills
• Ability to conduct and utilize comprehensive assessments
• Timely and quality documentation; experience with EHRs
• Adaptable to technology including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication
• Awareness of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
• Eligibility to work in the United States

Qualifications

• 2 years experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner

Nice to Have

• Spanish-speaking, proficiency in other languages a plus
• Previous telehealth experience
• Previous experience within the Community Mental Health sector
