About This Role

This role involves protecting key governmental facilities and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C., and traveling to support protective details for high-ranking officials. It combines investigative duties with a legacy of protection within the U.S. Secret Service.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex
• Provide protection for foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
• Travel in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
• Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A
• Carry and use a firearm, and maintain firearm proficiency
• Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing while in position
• Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC)
• Complete 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship
• Current valid U.S. driver's license
• Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application
• Must be under 40 at referral (exceptions may apply for federal law enforcement with special retirement provisions)
• Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
• Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
• Hearing loss not to exceed 25 decibels in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges
• Able to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without hearing aid
• Registered with the Selective Service System or exempt (for male applicants born after December 31, 1959)
