The Police Officer provides internal and external safety and police functions to support the general safety of the hospital community. This includes participation in investigations and arrests when warranted, as well as patrolling assigned areas and responding to emergency calls.
Responsibilities
- Patrol facilities and campus property, including parking areas, to maintain police presence and be alert for criminal activity and assistance needs
- Respond to calls for assistance and emergencies, taking control of dangerous situations using sound judgment
- Assist medical staff in restraining patients and perform BLS as needed
- Serve as first responder to fire alarms, chemical spills, Code Blue, and Rapid Responses in Public Areas
- Conduct preliminary investigations for hospital-related incidents involving visitors and patients
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities and report unusual incidents, criminal activity, vehicular accidents, criminal offenses, and suspicious activity
- Manage the facility's lost and found, securing valuable property
- Transport money to and from the bank as required
- Coordinate morgue pickups and releases to Funeral Homes and Coroner
- Assist with air ambulance landings
- Monitor and review security cameras and alarms
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current OPOTA Certificate
- BLS certification
- NAPPI training within first 6 months of hire
- Successfully pass bi-annual firearms qualifications
- Meet minimum physical fitness standards based on Cooper Institute's physical fitness norms for law enforcement at 60% standard
- Typing min of 40 wpm
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 Years Of Experience Preferred
