Police Officer

About This Role

Serve as a Police Officer for the City of Melbourne, performing law enforcement duties within Police Operations. This role requires meeting specific certification, age, citizenship, and testing requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 19 years of age
• United States citizen
• Valid Florida Driver’s License (or obtain within 10 days of employment)
• Currently certified as a Police Officer in the State of Florida, OR currently attending a Florida CJSTC Basic Law Enforcement Recruit course or Equivalency of Training course, OR possess a Letter of Acceptance to attend the next scheduled Florida CJSTC Basic Law Enforcement Recruit course or Equivalency of Training course
• Meet all FDLE requirements to be certified as a Police Officer
• Pass physical fitness assessment
• Pass background investigation
• Pass polygraph examination
• Pass psychological examination
• Pass FrontLine testing (Situational Judgment and Human Relations, Written Report Writing, and Reading Video-Based Tests)
• Pass Physical Abilities Test

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Entry level position requiring current certification or enrollment in a Florida CJSTC Basic Law Enforcement Recruit or Equivalency of Training course.
