This part-time School Crossing Guard position ensures the safe passage of children across streets and manages traffic flow around schools in Melbourne, FL.

Requirements

• Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, law enforcement officers, and the general public
• Ability to speak English clearly
• Ability to hear spoken words clearly
• Ability to grasp and hold a stop sign overhead
• Ability to walk into the street for visibility
• Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 2.5 hours)
• Ability to step up and down 6" curb
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
• Ability to distinguish traffic signal colors
• Ability to push pedestrian button

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred

Nice to Have

• Past school crossing experience
• Other work with school-age children
• Past experience in traffic direction/control
• Experience with a law enforcement agency
