Serve as a Police Officer for the U.S. Secret Service, providing protection for key governmental facilities and officials. This role involves enforcing protective responsibilities and traveling in support of high-profile missions.
Responsibilities
- Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
- Travel in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
- Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Current valid U.S. driver's license
- At least 21 years old at time of application and under 40 at referral (exceptions may apply)
- Ability to carry and use a firearm and maintain proficiency
- Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
- Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges; ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet without hearing aid
- Willingness to submit to drug tests (pre-appointment and random)
- Ability to complete 12 weeks of intensive training at FLETC and 17 weeks of specialized training at James J. Rowley Training Center
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with Selective Service System or be exempt.
